Glossary

The words you'll find across OrganicDeck, grouped by topic. Each term is written the way it shows on screen.

Measuring

  • Measurement. A check of the public counts of an account and its posts at one moment. Each one is kept with its date and time. Last measured says when an account was last checked.
  • In tracking. An account measured on your plan's schedule. A paused account keeps its data and stops updating.
  • Posts in tracking. The newest posts of an account that stay measured. The project sets a default in Settings → Measurements, and an account can have its own. Older posts keep their last measurement.
  • Videos in tracking. All the posts your plan keeps measured, across every account. Each account measured in full takes at least 10, even if it has fewer posts.
  • Posts by link. Posts you add by pasting their link. Of that account, only those posts are measured.
  • Everything imported. A period with every post OrganicDeck has of an account. It's the history in OrganicDeck, not the account's whole history on its platform.
  • History. Whether OrganicDeck has an account's posts back to its first one (Complete) or only since a date (Partial). It's in the account's sheet.
  • Group. A folder of accounts with a name, like Creators or Competitors.
  • Platform. The social network of an account: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, X or Snapchat.

Comparing posts

  • The usual. An account's median views across its imported posts. Half of its posts have more views and half have fewer.
  • Virality factor. A post's views over its account's usual. 1× is a typical post and 3.2× is 3.2 times the usual. It lets you compare accounts of different sizes. An account needs 5 measured posts to have one.
  • Took off. A post reached a virality factor of 2× or more. In Radar you can raise the bar to 5× or 10×.
  • Hit rate. The share of posts with a virality factor of 2× or more.
  • Viral. Posts with a virality factor of 10× or more.
  • Engagement per view. (Likes + comments + shares + saves) / views, with the counts each platform publishes. A post without measured likes or comments has no engagement.
  • Save rate and Share rate. Saves / views and shares / views.
  • Views from top 10%. The share of views that comes from the 10% most viewed posts.
  • Views gained. The views that posts of any date added during a period. A post needs two measurements to show them.
  • Views of the period's posts. The views of the posts published in a period, as of their latest measurement. The Overview shows these views until the whole period is measured.

What counts

  • In metrics and Not in metrics. Posts in metrics count in the Overview and in the project's totals. A post not in metrics is still measured, and you can include it again.
  • Exclude from metrics. Takes a post out of the metrics by hand, from Posts or from the post detail.
  • Only count posts that mention. A rule of an account: only the posts whose caption or read names one of its words, @mentions or #hashtags count. The rest is left out of metrics and still measured.
  • Accounts in your Overview. The groups and accounts you picked for your Overview and Posts. Each person has their own choice in each project.

Reading

  • Read. OrganicDeck read a post: its slides, or what a video shows and says. A read is one slideshow, or one started minute of video, up to 3 per video.
  • What it says. The read of a post, in its detail.
  • Why it took off. One or two sentences on what a post at 2× or more did differently from its account's usual posts.
  • Hook. How a post opens: its first slide or its first seconds.
  • Way of opening. The kind of hook, in plain words, like "Asks a question" or "Promises a list". The Hooks tab groups posts by it.
  • Sound. The song or original audio a post uses, when its platform names it.

Slideshows

  • Reference. The post, posts or account whose format a new slideshow follows: how many slides, what each one does, how much text and how the hook opens.
  • Board. A Pinterest board imported into the project. Its images fill the slides.
  • Your product. Screenshots and logos of your product, placed over a slide by hand.
  • Template. A saved look for the slides, with fonts, sizes, boxes and positions. A new slideshow can start from one.

Team and plan

  • Project. A space with its own accounts, Radar, settings and plan. You can be in several and switch between them in the sidebar.
  • Owner. Manages the project's billing and members, and its website, description and logo.
  • Member. Does everything else: adds, pauses and deletes accounts, and uses Intelligence and Slideshows.
  • Plan. How many videos a project keeps in tracking and how often they're measured, plus the reads, questions and slideshows for each month.
  • Free trial. The first days of a plan, without a charge. It has its own reads, questions and slideshows, and it asks for a card.
  • Top-up. Reads or questions bought once. They're used after the month's run out, and they don't expire.
  • Extra videos. More videos in tracking, added to a paid subscription every month.
